THE TATTOOING PROCESS
It's helpful to understand the process of getting a tattoo. Knowing what you are in store for should help you to relax and be more at ease once you get to the tattoo studio.
1. THINK BEFORE YOU INK
Tattoos last a lifetime, be sure to "think before you ink". A consultation may be necessary before you book your appointment to have the artwork tattooed on you. Depending on the complexity of the design work you want done the artist will need the appropriate time to prepare for doing your tattoo.

2.A tattoo will take approximately 2 ti 3 weeks to heal, and there are some strict guidelines you will need to follow so your tattoo heals properly and looks good. Do not book a tattoo appointment just before planning to go swimming or being in a lot of sun. See aftercare instructions for more details.
3. AFTERCARE IN ADVANCE
It is a good idea to know what you will require for aftercare. You may wish to purchase these items in advance. You will need a good fragrance free soap. The less additives the better. Something unscented and hypoallergenic works well. You may also use an antibacterial soap. Finally, you will also need an unscented moisturizer, such as Lubriderm or an after care product specifically designed for tattoo care.
4. WHEN GOING TO YOUR APPOINTMENT
~ Make sure to show up on time. If you are held up and going to be arriving late, make sure to contact your artist. If you are for some reason not able to make your appointment, please notify the studio ahead of time, the sooner the better.
~ Eat something before you go. Do not go to get a tattoo on an empty stomach. If you are planning a larger tattoo, you may want to also bring something with you.
~ Stay hydrated. Drink water.
~ Do NOT be under the influence of illicit drugs or alcohol. If you show up having recently consumed alcohol you may be refused service. Do not drink alcohol for 24 HOURS prior to getting your tattoo.
~ Wear appropriate clothing. Depending on where you are getting tattooed, the artist will need unrestricted access to this part of your body. Do not wear anything that will cause friction or rub up against your new tattoo. Remember, there is a lot of ink, which could come into contact with your clothing and leave stains.
~ While getting a tattoo, you are not able to attend to small children. It is best to leave the little ones home with a sitter.
5. YOUR TATTOO ARTIST AND YOU
It's important to feel comfortable with the artist you choose. If you have any concerns about any part of the process, let them know. Good communication is a key factor in getting the end result you were looking for.
